The Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK) partners with schools to engage young people in STEM through motorsport, featuring activities that enhance understanding and external visits.
AFBE-UK, dedicated to promoting diversity in engineering and technology, has partnered with Mission 44 to enhance diversity in STEM and motorsport. As a result, we have launched the AFBE Ignite Programme for schools, using motorsport to engage young people, especially those from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, in STEM.
11-15 years old
This 10-week after-school programme can start at any time throughout the academic year and explores all aspects of motorsport. It introduces participants to STEM concepts, general engineering, data analysis, nutrition and fitness, as well as media and marketing roles. Designed for all students, not just those passionate about STEM, it uses motorsport to engage young people in broader topics. The initiative also features careers days, visits to Formula Student teams and sim racing experiences.
Students can become an AFBE member for free and learn more about their other programmes and events via the link below.

I love this programme. It’s definitely amazing. I would skip any subject that I have right now, except from physics, just to do this.
